Black Tea

Indian Tea is perfectly framed as the Finest Black Indian Tea. The quality, color and flavor are so rich that it pleases taste buds, heart and mind. Black tea is generally stronger in flavor than the less oxidized teas varieties. It retains its flavor for many years. Black tea is the tea that enjoys the maximum sales in the world. India produces two main styles of Black tea, THE ORTHODOX TEA and THE CTC TEA. Conventionally speaking, orthodox tea refers to loose-leaf tea that is produced using traditional (or orthodox) methods of tea production, which involve plucking, withering, rolling, oxidation/fermentation and drying. CTC (Crush, Tear, and Curl or Cut, Tear and Curl) is a method of processing black tea in which tea leaves are passed through a series of cylindrical rollers with serrated blades that crush, tear, and curl the tea into small, even-shaped pellets.

Grades of Black CTC Tea:

CTC (crush-tear-curl) tea is tea that has been produced by a modern, mechanical process that tears the leaf in order to induce oxidation, rather than manually rolling it to bruise the leaf, as in the production of orthodox tea. Because the CTC process breaks the leaf, there is no whole-leaf CTC tea, and thus CTC tea is divided into broken-leaf, fannings, and dust. CTC tea grades include, for broken leaf tea, BP, BOP, BPS, BP1, and FP, and for fannings, OF, PF, and BOPF. There are a myriad of grades for CTC dust.
